CATOPTOGRAM STUDIO
CAT-OPTOGRAM STUDIO is committed to artistic expression of space visualization. As a team founded by
designers, we are exploring the interaction and iteration of space and images from a more dimensional
perspective. Eyes, computers, and cameras are the tools we use to capture and transmit spatial information.
Though rendering images and photography works, we build a way to express and decode information of the
space.

CAT-OPTOGRAM STUDIO regards architectural visualization and architectural photography as the
singularity of spatial visualization research. From the architectural visualization in the conceptual design phase
to the photography of the project completion, diverse tools and technologies help us break free from the
constraints of time so that we could comprehensively explore the history and future of the project. We look
forward to working with the designer to turn the vision into reality.

CAT-OPTOGRAM is a combination of Cat and Optogram.
Cats can always observe the world in unexpected positions with a maverick attitude. We hope that we can
maintain an endless curiosity and enthusiasm to explore the world.

Optogram, an image on the retina of the eye, is a physiological term with an special history. As early as the
17th century, some friars observed the existence of weak retinal images when dissecting frogs. Afterwards,
Wilhelm Kühne, a German physiologist, referred to the experimental results of a death penalty prisoner in the

Observations for Anatomy and Physiology of the Retina published in 1881, trying to prove the retinal image. In
some literary and philosophical works since then, some authors have repeatedly mentioned the use of
optography to capture retinal images and show the images seen by the deceased. For example, an article
proposed to use this method to solve mystery cases. In fact, Optogram is the mark left by light on the
physiological structure of the eye. We firmly believe that we can try to interpret the complex visual space
through these subtle marks on the optogram.
